My name is Kennedy Malone and I have chosen Yusef Komunyakaa.  Yusef Komunyakaa is an American poet.  I decided to choose him because he implemented this great successful art called jazz poetry.  In my opinion, I say that his successfulness is great because his poetry dealing with music speaks to me.  I am a music player, a music lover and a music feen; therefore I felt that it was appropriate to use Yusef Komunyakaa’s poems, not only to help me comprehend but because I enjoy it.  I feel that I can understand his poems about a lot better than most poems by different poets because he uses something in his poems that I can connect with very easily.  Anything pertaining to music; I like.  Not only does his poems say a lot about him, but it also says that he had his own way in expressing his poetry.  Instead of just telling a normal story through his poem using the normal traditions, he uses jazz rhythms.
